Abundantly More: Peace

Our family owns property on Cross Lake  – the best kept secret of the Finger Lakes region. While other lakes in the area have become extremely popular, especially Canandaigua Lake and Skaneateles Lake, Cross Lake has remained a quiet little haven. A place of rest. A place of peace

During the months of May through October, this is where our family spends the majority of our time. It’s where I feel renewed and restored. It’s where we go to get away from the busyness of life. It’s where we escaped to find the strength to endure those difficult days after my father-in-law’s sudden passing. And It’s where I have since found healing and hope.

Peace: In a general sense, a state of quiet or tranquility; freedom from disturbance or agitation; applicable to society, to individuals, or to the temper of the mind.

Noah Webster

But what I love most about Cross Lake is that there, surrounded by undisturbed creation, I can feel God’s presence all around. His quiet whisper in the waves. His gentle touch in the wind. When I sit and listen, I can visibly see and audibly hear creation celebrating – shouting joyfully. And the serenity of it all points my soul back to the Creator who’s peace exceeds anything we can understand. And there, my joy is complete!

Peace is God’s gift to us.

Monday:  “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33 NLT

Tuesday: “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” – John 14:27 NLT

Wednesday: Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:7 NLT

Thursday:  I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. – Romans 15:13 NLT

Friday: Dear brothers and sisters, I close my letter with these last words: Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you. – 2 Corinthians 13:11 NLT
